- What do I need for my first appointment?
- Coming prepared helps your physical therapy evaluation go smoothly. Please bring your insurance card(s), any referral or authorization if needed, and a photo ID. If you have diagnostic test results related to your condition you may bring copies or digital access information, though we can also usually get these from your doctor as well if needed. Please arrive 15 minutes to fill out the necessary paperwork so you will be ready to go at your scheduled appointment time. First appointments typically last around 1 hour.
- What to expect during your first appointment?
- During the initial physical therapy visit at Rebound, your therapist will discuss your symptoms or surgery, activity level, and goals. The therapist will perform a thorough examination and evaluate your movement and/or injury. You may be tested on posture and gait, range of motion, strength, flexibility, and balance. Your therapist may also palpate joints or soft tissues and use functional tests to see how your condition affects your daily life.
- What should I wear to physical therapy?
- Please wear comfortable clothing for your appointment, so that you can freely move around. We recommend T-shirts or athletic tops with shorts, sweatpants, yoga pants, or athletic leggings. If you have surgical incisions, please wear clothing that allows your therapist to inspect those areas (shorts for lower body surgeries, a loose-fitting shirt or a tank top for shoulder surgeries). Supportive, closed-toe athletic or walking shoes with good traction are best, especially for balance or gait training.
- Can I choose where I go?
- Yes, you have a choice where you go for physical therapy services.
- Does insurance cover physical therapy?
- Most insurance plans do cover PT, but coverage varies a lot. Patients may still have a copay, deductible, coinsurance, visit limit, or require authorization. To determine your specific coverage, you can call your insurance company or reach out directly to Rebound’s billing office (907) 346-5171 to have your benefits checked.
